Rabbiting

I haven't had much the time or the energy for pretty dresses lately. It's been hurting my tacky little heart. But yesterday my 3-pack of opaque black tights arrived in the mail (I've gone all semester without a single pair of black tights and I don't understand how I survived), so today I grabbed my bunny print dress I bought last winter from eShakti. It was satisfying.
It is, of course, November, and unseasonably wintry at that. So these pictures are distinctly dark and frigid. I'm not sure I recommend light cotton dresses this time of year.

Hello November

November has arrived! With it, I am feeling cold and blowzy. I must be some sort of weather empath.
This semester is...a lot. I'm having fun. It's a joy to engage this mind of mine. But I never have time to take pictures of my outfits anymore. I look about the same way everyday anyway: Cute, but a bit frayed at the edges and more than a little manic.
I nabbed this jacket at my beloved NoHo Hospice. Being the owner of two vintage-y denim jackets feels kind of silly, but the venerable old hand-me-down jacket I've been wearing these many years is literally fraying at the seams. It needs some real TLC. In the meantime, this was a good $5 investment. The lady who checked me out examined it carefully and told me I had a good eye, to which I could only reply, embarrassed. "I've had, uh, lots of practice."
Oh! To be as bright at this little leaf--that I might fade so loudly.

A Smart, Strong, Sensual Woman

I'm no hero. I put my bra on one boob at a time, just like everyone else.

Happy Halloween! I threw together a Tina Belcher costume. Bob's Burgers is a good show for a lot of reasons, but Tina Belcher is my everything.

Considering I bought all this stuff last minute on Amazon, I'm surprisingly into this! The wig is atrocious and I couldn't find an actual yellow hair clip, but I am otherwise very satisfied.
My prop was the best part:
Tina practices grabbing butts. Hey, it might come up.
Neither the socks not the shoes are strictly accurate, but I like the effect.
Man, I really tried with the wig. It was like $8, but even if it wasn't quite as bad as expected, it's still, um, awful. I trimmed it in the back, making it a little less mullet-y, but I could really only do so much.

The shirt, shoes, socks, wig, and glasses came from Amazon. I thrifted the skirt ages ago. Notebook courtesy of my roommate, who tells me she will gladly use it as a lab notebook in the future. Good.

Laundry Day

I have never needed to finish my laundry as much in my life as I did this morning. I think I pulled the last cute outfit out of my drawers.
The shirt is a weird polyester nightmare--so, you know, a favorite. But it's strange an ill-fitting, so I wear it seldom. Perfect with this cute little shirt I picked up at Savers, though! Um, emphasis on little. It's a Gap large, and is definitely confused by my hips. Oh well.
I blinked for like every photograph today. Also posed like a maniac? But I decided to just roll with it.

Lady Friendships!

Fall in New England is so beautiful and lady friendships are so important.
This shoot was sort of impromptu. Lee and I planned it (but then I forgot). The result is a million pictures of the two of us looking incredibly happy and startlingly ourselves, and it gives me a lot of feelings about friendship and fashion and feminism. I adore this punk scientist.
Where did I get such a beautiful and punk rock friend?
She's beauty and she's grace!
Her hair is fantastic!
And she enjoys taking autumnal whimsy pictures just as much as I do, making her a valuable friend indeed.
If you were my Facebook friend, you could see the unreasonable number of unreasonably beautiful photos I took of Lee. She's the most photogenic person I know.
I, on the other hand, look pretty silly in every photo. I'm not graceful. That's the sort of thing that used to distress me. Now I'm more than a little pleased to see the honesty of my laughter reflected here.
Did I mention that I'm not graceful? Lee is. Look at this. Look at this pose she can just hold.
She tried to make me do it. Here's a gif of me falling.
Lady friendships are so important. Are you a lady? I bet you love a lady. Tell a lady you love her today. It's powerful.

Jackpot

I have homework to be doing, but I've decided this jacket is Too Important to neglect. It is the first item I can proudly tick off my To-Thrift List. I didn't exactly thrift it? I bought it from That Crazy "Vintage" Dealer with whom I have a love/hate relationship. Hate because he's obnoxious and pretends to have extensive knowledge of vintage clothing when he actually has very little and lets his entire stock be overtaken by mildew. Love because he doesn't usually have any idea of what he has, and this jacket only ran me $20. That's not nothing, but this was undeniably worth more.
Wow, what horrid pictures. Anyways, it's lovely and warm, with a zip-in cozy lining. Its only flaw is a snagged open hook loop, which I can fi.
Initially I was looking for a black leather jacket, but I think the brown suits me better. What I really love are the fierce looking shoulders. Just the right mix of basic and edgy.
Goes well with these silly glasses, huh? In other news, my bizarrely overindulgent father made a...very early Christmas gift of a casual little camera for me? I like it immensely, though as these pictures are clear evidence of, I don't know how to use it yet.

Jacket: "Vintage" Seller
Jeans: American Eagle

Sweater: A pal's cast-off
Scarf: Some...travelling vendor?

Autumn Queen

Flower crowns are beautiful and I fully support them, but my heart belongs to autumn.
I can't be the first gal to pin fall leaves in her hair, but it was a lot of fun. Everyone should do it.
I miss having a camera that works, focuses reliably, and takes clear pictures, but I'm just gonna keep rolling. The blurriness is, um, an artistic choice? Sure.
Seriously considering just wearing leaves in my hair now. Natural and temporary hair accessories. I dig it.
